The Realm of Possibilities by David Levithan

Read for: Pleasure.

Summary: Amazon Link

Thoughts on: I enjoyed this book. The first time I read it I think it was easier to follow along with because I read it at a slower pace, person by person. This time I just went straight through it and had to reference back a few times to see the person that was talking. I love the work of David Levithan, and I can't wait to read Nick and Norah's Infinate Playlist because I really think that I would be able to relate in some way [based on the reviews I've heard of it]. This book does get depressing at times, because of the reference of relationships and broken hearts, but some parts are so mind blowing that I just want to re-read those sections over and over until the words are ingrained into my head.

Burned by Ellen Hopkins

Read for: Pleasure

Summary: Amazon Link

Thoughts on: I love Ellen Hopkins. She's a lovely author, but her style of writing is very different from many people. People would see me reading and ask if it was a book of poetry because of the set up. The book kept me awake, and although it was very lengthy, it really wasn't that long of a read. This book was about love, and challenging one's religion, and family expectations. The main character is a Mormon girl, and my town is filled with them, so this book opened my eyes as to what could potentially be going on in their lives. The beginning and the end of the book were a little weird, the beginning seemed misleading after getting into the book, and the ending was quite abrupt.

Rating: 4.5 / 5

I'm no longer posting my next read, because I rarely keep to that.

Small Town Punk by John Sheppard

Read for: Pleasure.

Summary: Amazon Link

Thoughts on: Lovely quick read, and very real. I originally bought this book because the title was so interesting. The characters throughout the book seemed like people that I would completely get along with. The "fuck the world" mindset that they all shared was refreshing as well as the fact that characters came and left, yet they kept saying "people come, and people leave" as if it were a matter of life that they caught on to much too soon. It really showed the mindset of a young "punk" person and their life, the reasons for why they are, and the type of bond they can all share.

Thoughts on: I truly thought this book was amazing. Although I know it is a diary, and could almost not count as a book, it seemed so well written, and the fact that it was so extremely real, just completely blew me away. I cannot relate to the main character, because I am not a drug addict, but her move from friend to friend, and every other social thing that went on in her journey is something that someone could relate to, no matter where you stand socially. The ups and downs, and twists and turns would not allow me to put this book down. The only reason I am not rating this book 5/5 is because the ending was quite disappointing, and was a dead stsop.

Summer by Edith Wharton

Read for: School.

Summary: Amazon Link.

Thoughts:
This was not my type of book. It was good if you like classics or books sent in the early 1920's on social expectations of women. The main character became a little bit annoying to me over the course of the book. This book is definately a romance novel, almost a mix of Pride and Predjudice and The Scarlette Letter. I, personally, didn't like either of those other books, so this one almost took the best of their two worlds and meshed them in with a character that I'm sure many young women could relate to.

Rating: 2.5 / 5

Next Book: Go Ask Alice by Anonymous
The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath
